Milsetentayseis La Peña is a wine with a strong identity of its own. Old Fuentenebro vineyard where different ancestral varieties coexist. Sandy loam soils with

wine with volume, silky and very complex, with a long and saline finish.

The 2022 vintage was characterized by a winter and spring with little rainfall and an increase in temperatures that caused a significant advance in budbreak. During the summer, there were several heat waves and little contrast between day and night, which caused the grapes to ripen very quickly. Thanks to the viticulture team that worked in green to protect the fruit from the sun’s rays, the different varieties of this plot ripened without any significant incidents. The La Peña plot was harvested on September 22.

Milsetentayseis La Peña 2022 is the purest expression of a small ancestral plot of barely 0.46 hectares located at an altitude of 948 meters between valleys, crags and hollows. Old vines were planted nearly a hundred years ago in sandy loam soil with an extraordinary mineral richness that reflects Fuentenebro’s mining past. The mineral fraction of the soil, mica, feldspar and quartz give it a unique character. La Peña 2022 is a complex and singular rosé that represents in a pure and honest way the identity of its origin where different historical varieties coexist that are synonymous with a Ribera del Duero that goes back centuries in time. A wine that seeks to capture the maximum expression of these old vines respecting the terroir and the landscape in a natural way.

The elaboration of Milsetentayseis La Peña is marked by the utmost care and attention to detail throughout the process. The grapes, from an extraordinary vineyard, are vinified individually to achieve the maximum expression of this small corner of Fuentenebro. During the harvest, the fruit was picked by hand and transported in twelve kilogram boxes. In the winery, the clusters of these centenary vines were gently pressed to obtain the purest essence of each variety. Fermentation and aging were carried out for seven months in 600-liter French oak barrels. During this time it remained in contact with its lees. For
greater protection, the wine contained sulfites. It was bottled without fining or stabilization in May 2024.
